The Project

DS2 draws researchers and practitioners from diverse disciplines to guarantee that the complex lifecycles of inter-sector data sharing, aggregation, and provenance will take place in a human-centric and trusted way, with common structures, exportability, and insight, while protecting the sovereign rights of data owners and complying with European data regulations. DS2 provides a modular software infrastructure to connect data sources (Data Spaces/data silos/data lakes) for cross-sector data sharing. Once connected, data consumers and providers will be able to structure and execute efficient complex data lifecycles that respect the technical and governance-related requirements of the participating data sources.

Our Role

Our focus is on researching and classifying anomalous behavior/error conditions across complex data lifecycles. We take charge of creating classifiers using AI algorithms, delving into methodologies to mitigate data quality degradation, and collaborating closely with the Human-centric Tools work package when human intervention becomes necessary. We contribute to establishing efficient data transfer infrastructure between data stores, which involves intelligent data placement and ensuring secure connectivity. Furthermore, we assist in providing an experimental data space as a service for companies interested in data economy and sharing. This allows for testing of business concepts and proof of concepts before implementing them in real-life scenarios.
